MindfulBlock is built to keep your data yours. This page explains what the app touches, what it stores, and what it never sees. MindfulBlock is developed by Daniil Shevliuk, an independent developer.
The short version
- No account. No sign-up. No backend.
- Your journal stays on your device. We never see it.
- Insights about your notes are generated by Apple's on-device model. Your notes still never leave the phone.
- We can't see which apps you block — Apple hides that from us by design.
- We collect no data tied to you as a person. The only data that leaves your device is anonymized usage statistics and standard purchase records, described below.
What we collect
MindfulBlock has no user accounts and no servers of its own. We don't collect your name, email, contacts, location, or anything else that identifies you. Journal entries and settings are stored in an on-device database and are never uploaded to us.
MindfulBlock does not sync your data to any cloud service. If you have iCloud Backup turned on, iOS includes the app's data in your device backup, like it does for any app — that backup is between you and Apple, and we have no access to it.
Your journal
Reflections you write stay on your device. They are not uploaded or shared — with us or anyone else. The only thing that reads them is your own iPhone: the app itself, and Apple's on-device model when it prepares your insight, described next.
Insights (Apple Intelligence)
If you subscribe to MindfulBlock Plus and your device supports Apple Intelligence, the app can show a short reflection on your notes from the past two weeks. That analysis runs entirely on your device using Apple's built-in on-device language model. Your notes are not sent to us, to Apple's servers, or to any other company, and the resulting insight is stored only on your device. If your device doesn't support the model, or there aren't enough notes, the card simply doesn't appear.
Screen Time & app blocking
MindfulBlock uses Apple's Screen Time frameworks (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity) to pause the apps you choose. Apple designed these frameworks so that your selection is an opaque token: MindfulBlock can block the apps you picked, but it never learns which apps they are. Neither do we.
Notifications
Reminders and unlock notifications are created on your device. There are no push notifications, and no notification tokens are sent anywhere.
Analytics & feature configuration
We use two third-party services. Neither receives your journal, your app selection, or anything that identifies you personally.
- TelemetryDeck collects anonymized usage statistics — when the app is launched and used, and on what device model, OS version and app version — so we can understand how the app is doing. Identifiers are anonymized before analysis, IP addresses are never stored, and data is processed on servers in the EU. Read more in TelemetryDeck's privacy FAQ.
- Statsig delivers feature configuration — it tells the app which features to turn on. To do this, the app sends Statsig basic device information (OS version, app version, device model, locale) and a random identifier generated on your device. This identifier is not linked to you and we can't use it to identify you. Statsig processes this data on servers in the United States. See Statsig's privacy policy.
We don't use advertising identifiers, we don't track you across other apps or websites, and we never sell or share data for advertising.
Crash reports & App Store data
If you have opted in to sharing analytics with developers in your iOS settings, Apple may share aggregated, anonymous crash and usage reports with us. Apple also gives us anonymous, aggregated App Store statistics such as downloads. We can't tie any of it to an individual person.
Purchases
Subscriptions are handled by Apple through standard in-app purchases. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details, name, or email. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases and manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives a random, anonymous identifier and your purchase history — nothing that identifies you personally. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
Children
MindfulBlock is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them. Because the app has no accounts and collects nothing that identifies anyone, we have no way to know a user's age.
Your rights & deleting your data
- Your journal and settings exist only on your device. You can erase every entry at any time with Clear Journal History in Settings, or delete the app and they're gone — there's nothing on our servers to delete, because we don't have servers.
- Analytics and configuration data held by TelemetryDeck and Statsig is anonymized and can't be traced back to you, so there's nothing to request or remove.
- Questions about any of this? Email us anytime.
Changes to this policy
If the app starts handling data differently, we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
